    Thomas Tom Haffield SwimPath Team Profile Page

    Welsh swimmer Thomas Haffield broke through in 2005, winning his first British medal with 400m Individual Medley bronze then landing the same result on his European Junior Championship debut in Budapest.

    The following season, he made his Commonwealth debut, reaching the 400m IM final and finishing sixth in Melbourne. He won his first British title with 400m IM gold in 2008 and made his Olympic debut four months later at Beijing 2008. In 2009, he defended his British title before reaching the 400m IM final on his World Championship debut in Rome.

    Tom made his second Commonwealth appearance at Delhi in 2010, finishing less than a second off the podium in fourth in the 400m IM.He made his return to the big stage in 2014, competing for Wales in his third Commonwealth Games at Glasgow 2014.He recently completed his swim teaching course and hopes to give back to his sport in the future.

    On becoming a Sky Sports Living for Sport Athlete Mentor, Thomas commented: ‘I am very excited to start work as an athlete mentor and hope to motivate young people to achieve their potential with my story of success and triumph but also sacrifice, hard work and determination’.
